Certificate in Applied Theology
TRAINING FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS
IBTC has maximised the opportunity provided by the recent disruptive period of Brexit and Corona virus pandemic to re-evaluate its study programme. We have re-designed our Christian vocational training courses to be fit for purpose in the new adjusted normal that we find ourselves in.
In January 2022 IBTC will launch a new six-month foundation certificate in applied theology course. The IBTC foundation certificate in applied theology will be a six-month introductory vocational course designed to help individuals serve more effectively in local church ministry and mission. The foundation certificate course programme’s varied subjects and activities will provide a solid platform from which to explore personal strengths and weaknesses. It will be designed to facilitate the discovery of specific gifts and practical ways of putting them to use.
(NB Where applicants don’t have English as their first language, they will need to demonstrate that they have a minimum standard of B1 level English that is certified by a Gov UK specified provider e.g. Oxford/ Cambridge etc.)
BRIDGING MINISTRY PLACEMENT
Both these courses are designed to be separate self-contained courses that can be completed within 6 months. Students who complete IBTC’s foundation certificate and want to proceed to enrol on the advanced diploma will be expected to complete a practical 5-6 weeks’ ministry placement during the autumn period between the courses. This will provide a practical ministry exposure that will form a bridge between the two courses. IBTC will be able to signpost students to effective ministry placement partners in Europe.
ADVANTAGES OF ENROLLING ON OUR COURSES
IBTC has a proven track record of residential mission training for over 70 years.
The short vocational courses provide a viable study access route in the UK post-Brexit.
The residential setting allows for dedicated learning and discipleship in preparation for Christian service and mission.
The combined study and residential package mean that the courses are very affordable for a UK context.
The courses are taught in English and provide scope for students to improve their conversational and written English skills.
The modules are taught in a manner that does not just impart information but assists students to achieve key vocational learning outcomes.
The new courses have the flexibility to be studied as separate entities or combined as subsequent integrated courses *.
IBTC courses are accredited by NCFE, a leading provider of educational services and a not-for-profit organisation.
* The advanced course builds on the learning acquired in the foundation course. They have the potential to be connected by a practical placement that will innovatively serve as a bridge between the two and reinforce applied learning skills.
